Darley House

Having bought and lived in the house for a few years the owners decided it was time for some major alterations and improvements to this 1950’s House. The house has a large rear garden, however the current layout does not make the most this with only 1 bedroom and the kitchen having views of the garden and the only access is through a rear lobby. The main aim of the project was to extend the kitchen and the living room and to generally improve the look and layout of the property.

The main addition is a large single storey rear extension that provided a multiple function. The principal space is an extension to the kitchen with a traditional orangery style space. This opens up to the garden and also includes a small gym and rear hallway that provides a side entrance and connects to the utility in the garage.

The living room was extended by creating a large bay window to the side of property. This bay was specifically sized to suit a very large chesterfield sofa they had just bought. New patio doors were also added the living room to give access to the rear garden. To improve the appearance and thermal efficiency of the property the current windows have been replaced with period correct timber windows, which had a significantly changed it appearance.
