Fatfield Drive

This light-filled spacious extension to a 70’s house transforms the living space and the connection to the garden. The current house has a number of under-used extensions that have been demolished or incorporated into this new space.

The new space spans the full width of the rear of the house and is open to the existing living area. Because of the gentle slope of the site the floor of this new space can be lower than the main house, this creates a sense of separation from the main house while still allowing light in and view out to the garden. A wall of 3m high windows and sliding doors allows the space to flow out into the patio which is shaded by a steel and timber canopy.
